Mtn’s Hines Steele – BH

Though Crista was born into a family with a GSD and has had many GSD rescues over the years, Dixie was her first Schutzhund dog.  On the field it was apparent that Dixie and Crista shared a very close bond and were a solid team.  Crista says, “We do our best to show both the love of the sport and the bond between us when we are on the field.”  Dixie earned her BH in 2021, where they exhibited a beautiful picture of a devoted dog and handler.  Dixie is currently retired and enjoys watching her brother learn the sport.

Speaking of brothers, Hines (named after SuperBowl 40 MVP, Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers) earned his BH in Sept, 2024.  Hines is teaching Crista patience.  He learns on his own time, when he is good and ready, and not 1 second before!  Luckily, we have nowhere to go and we are in no hurry.  After accepting the learning curve and without timelines or deadlines, it has made training much more relaxing and enjoyable for both of them. Hines is a powerhouse with the song lyrics, “Got nothing in my brain” on repeat.  He is silly, loving and has a fun drive!

Crista is a founding member of WESC and is currently serving as the Club’s Secretary/Treasurer.
